The Objectives of Controlling

Without control there is no use for others functions of management. Control is any process that guides activity towards some pre determined goals. The purpose of the control is to maximize the use of scarce resources and to achieve purposeful behavior of organization members. According to koontz and O’Donnel, “control like planning is ideally forward looking and the best kind of managerial control corrects deviations from plants before they occur.
Objectives:
The Objectives of controlling are as follows:
1. To find out deviations between planned performance and actual performance
2. To suggest corrective actions wherever they are needed.
Basic requirements of good controlling system:
1. Planning: planning involves the setting of objectives to be achieved and also the action that is to be taken to achieve them. This planning is the basis for control for this devations from predetermained objectives and action plan are detected and corrective actions are suggested.
2. Action: after planning is over action must be taken at the required places. The manager must tell his subordinates what to do and lead them to do it. Even then deviations may occur. In such cases the devotion should be identified and also rectified quickly. The deviation may high light some faults or deficiencies in the plan itself. In that case suitable modifications or alteration should be done to the plan.
