The coating process and development can be an excruciating, unsuccessful task to someone who in not equipped with the right expertise about the field. However, with the right data, you will be able to undertake the process easily and attain the best results. There are different methods of coating processes with the common being dip coating, manual brush application, manual spray coating and programmable spray coating. The method used depends on the exact material being coated.

Manual spray coating

This type of application enables a wide range of materials to be coated without much effort. A handheld spray booth, which has solvent storage tanks, self contained material, coating pressure and flow rates as well as pumping capabilities, is used. The booth exhaust is constantly filtered to avoid coating build up. The booth has a turntable to allow the user to easily rotate while spraying. The disadvantages of this application are the difficulty to change the coating type and the need to cover all areas where coating application is undesired.

Dip coating

This process is convenient for high coating volume applications with few if any coating type changes mainly because of the amount required to fill a full tank. The dip coating equipment usually has two or more different tanks with distinct materials so as to prevent the trouble of coating changing. The equipment allows for tank dwell time, dip speed and removal speed changes.

Selective spray coating

This is a recent innovation in the coatings industry. This method is expected to eliminate all the disadvantages that come with the need for masking and labor in the manual spray coating.
